The Rev. John Agev, incumbent Superintendent of Gboko District encountered the Lord as a teenager and was led to Him by Bro. Justin Nyam, an ardent street preacher and was brought up in the faith by The Rev. Moses Shior.
Quite early in his Christian life, it became obvious that the Lord’s hand was upon him for Ministry. He found the idea unpleasant and stoutly resisted the inner witness of the Holy Spirit.
After several years of resisting the call, he finally submitted to God’s will and enrolled for Ministerial training at Eastern Bible College (now Assemblies of God Seminary), Anyikang-Bekwarra where he graduated in 1990.
Following his graduation, The Rev. Agev pastored and opened Churches in Gongola State in the region that is today Taraba State and Southern Adamawa State. His Alma Mater later sought after him when more hands were needed in the classroom, so the General Council of the Assemblies of God withdrew him from the Church and sent him as requested.
In Eastern Bible College – now Assemblies of God Seminary – he served at different times as Registrar, Dean of Students Affairs and Bursar. He moved on to transfer to Assemblies of God Divinity School, Old Umuahia as Registrar, then finally to Nigeria Advanced School of Theology, Ewu, still as Registrar until March 14, 2014 when he was voted Superintendent of the District.
